Dear Friends,
We invite you to join us in celebrating the life, vision and work of Baba Amte, legendary peacemaker from India. On this website, you can discover the ways in which you can be instrumental in spreading the word about a new comprehensive biography about this Indian legend, "Wisdom Song: the Life of Baba Amte."
Part-dreamer, part-realist, Baba Amte is no ivory tower philosopher. He's the friend of the common person, the poor and the outcast, the silenced and the invisible. His vision is a simple but powerful, and best of all, it's practical. Like Gandhi and Tagore, Mandela and Desmond Tutu, Baba chose to march to the beat of a different drummer. Now 92 years old, he continues to inspire us.
In April 2006, 'Wisdom Song: the Life of Baba Amte' brings Baba's unique drum-beat to the world. 'Wisdom Song' takes readers on a journey to meet Baba and bear witness to his rich legacy of humanitarian and environmental service. It features insights gathered from almost one hundred interviews, poetry and prose by Baba himself, and many untold anecdotes and tales from his roller-coaster life spanning nine decades.
Within this website, you can learn more about Baba and this new book about him, 'Wisdom Song.' For those who have already read the book, we have extra goodies including photographs, interviews, and more exciting content.
With warm regards, Neesha Mirchandani
